A Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to come to Canada. It is a type of multiple entry visa so parents or grandparents can enter multiple times and stay in Canada for up to two years at a time without needing to renew their status.
Super Visa is different from a visitor visa as a visitor visa is valid for a stay of up to 6 months. You have to apply for an extension to extend your stay. With a Super Visa, parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or residents may be able to enter Canada multiple times over a period of 10 years.
To be eligible for a super visa, one needs to meet these requirements:
The application can be submitted both online and paper-based routes. Online applications are processed quickly as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) get the application instantly. The application must be submitted along with the documents required for Super Visa.
If you have questions relating to Super Visas or want to apply for a Super Visa, please contact us and a member of the Dastur Immigration Services Team will be happy to discuss your options.
Super Visa is an alternative to the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) for people looking forward to reuniting with their parents and grandparents temporarily. The PGP program is high in demand and fills up quickly, so Super Visa is another option to bring your parents or grandparents on a temporary basis.
Super Visa is a temporary solution to reunite with parents or grandparents. As an alternative to the super visa, you may wish to pursue the permanent immigration of your parents or grandparents through the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship program that comes under the Family Sponsorship program. Visit our Family Sponsorship page to know more.
Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents who come from visa-exempt countries can stay in Canada for up to six months. Applying for a super visa will allow them to remain in Canada for up to two years at a time.
