Canada’s Express Entry Invitations for FSWP and CEC Candidates Will Resume by Early July 2022

Canada’s immigration minister Sean Fraser has recently announced Express Entry invitations to FSWP and CEC candidates will resume by early July.” The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is among the three skilled worker programs managed by Canada’s Express Entry system. While the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a prominent immigration option for temporary foreign workers and international graduates who go on to gain Canadian work experience.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is the application management system for Canada’s three most popular immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Currently, Canada is dealing with historic labor shortages and job vacancies near record highs. This year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is looking to land 55,000 Express Entry permanent residents.

Canada has already invited 829 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence on April 27. These candidates had previously received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of at least 772.

IRCC has not invited FSWP candidates since December 2020. CEC candidates have not been invited since September 2021. Now, it has been announced that Express Entry invitations to FSWP and CEC candidates will resume by early July. Also, the majority of new Express Entry applications will once again be processed within the six-month service standard.

Are you eligible for FSWP Immigration Program?

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is managed under the Express Entry system and uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank candidates who want to settle permanently in Canada. To be eligible for this program, candidates must meet a minimum points requirement based on factors such as work experience, language ability, and education.

A candidate must demonstrate that they score a minimum of 67 out of 100 points based on the following requirements and points for each factor:

CEC also comes under the Express Entry system and uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank interested candidates.

The requirements for CEC include:

  • You must have obtained work experience in Canada within the 36 months prior to the date of submission of the electronic Application for Permanent Residence.
  • Your employment duties in Canada fall under the NOC Code Skill Level 0, A, or B.
  • You have lawfully obtained paid work experience in Canada.

Additionally, you must reach a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 on an approved English or French language test for NOC skill level 0 or A jobs and intend to live outside of the province of Quebec.
